The curriculum is rooted in multicultural practice and social justice, with an emphasis on developing intellectual leadership, active imagination, and a childs natural inquisitive nature. Students are challenged and inspired to be active workers toward their own education and teachers strive to develop meaningful relationships with each child and family.

We are seeking a one year leave replacement Spanish teacher who will work on an interdisciplinary team and serve as a student advisor during the 2026-2027 school year. The ideal candidate will have experience working with Middle School students and have an understanding of educational, social-emotional, and developmental stages appropriate for young adolescence. Prerequisites for the PositionPossess an undergraduate degree at a minimumHave experience working with children of this age and with their parentsPossess the physical and mental attributes required for working with Middle School aged childrenHigh level of proficiency in writing, speaking, reading, and understanding SpanishHave experience connecting language to cultural understandings of Spanish speaking countries Experience teaching Spanish or ESL Commitment to creating an immersion environment - teaching in Spanish Appreciate and enjoy working with children of this ageBe energetic, creative, flexible, resilient and open to change and new ideasPossess good organizational capabilities and be able to implement these effectivelyHave strong interpersonal skills which support and engender trust and be able to work as a positive member of a team of teachersHave a deep sense of community, be respectful of adults and children, understand and respect human differences and support multicultural practice and pedagogyHave experience working in a racially diverse communityBe a thoughtful and effective listenerBe able to communicate with parents, colleagues, and students clearly and accurately, both orally and in writingHave a strong sense of self, a good sense of humor, and a positive outlook on ones professional endeavorsDemonstrated commitment to student advocacy and mentorshipFamiliarity and comfort with Google ClassroomDuties and ExpectationsTeach Spanish to both beginners and bilingual students Participate in all aspects of the curricular life of the Middle SchoolBe a full time teacher who is responsible for the supervision and teaching of all students in their classroomEncourage good listening and speaking skills in the studentsBe well-grounded in writing, reading, speaking and listening; and create and implement age-appropriate, student-centered curriculumPromote student involvement and participation in all aspects of the programSet and monitor the tone of the classroom to ensure an environment which is well-ordered and exhibits respect for classmates, teachers, and the school as a wholeAttend and participate in team, divisional, and all-school meetingsWrite progress reports and conference notes at regularly scheduled timesServe as the primary advocate and mentor for a small advisory cohort, fostering their social-emotional growth and academic progressBe actively involved in the formulation and implementation of a regular, formal teacher evaluation process and participation in this processEngage in ongoing professional development especially related to growth as a multicultural practitioner
