TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
190 Days (if employed for full contract calendar). Salary determined by schedule set by the Board.
EVALUATION
Evaluated annually by the Assistant Superintendent of Instruction.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The instructor of the Hybrid Middle School Program provides instructional guidance for a district-wide hybrid middle school model that integrates high-quality virtual learning with in-person instruction. The instructor will leverage experience across middle-level experiences to ensure that middle-level learners are academically, socially, and developmentally prepared for success in high school. This position requires a deep understanding of both virtual teaching and in-person instructional models, middle-level best practices, and constant parent communication.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree (minimum)
EXPERIENCE
5 years or more of middle school experience required.
LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS
Required:
Middle level South Carolina teaching certification in two of the four core content areas.
Preferred:
Virtual learning programs experience; will be trained on VirtualSC during summer training opportunities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Instruction & Development Provide guidance and instruction to groups and individuals, through VirtualSC or in person, to meet the needs of the students. Assist with systems, structures, and processes to support program growth and sustainability over time. Serve as parents' point of contact for the hybrid middle school program to develop a partnership in the student's learning and attainment of progress toward entrance into high school. Analyze program data to evaluate student progress for recommendations on next steps in the learning process. Collaborate with families and instructional staff to plan, align, and monitor instruction across virtual and in-person settings. Ensure the curriculum aligns with district standards, middle school instructional goals, and high school readiness expectations. Support the use of effective instructional practices, assessment strategies, and interventions appropriate for hybrid learning environments. Assist with all aspects of student enrollment into the hybrid middle school program, including parent communication, enrollment guidelines, and placement processes. Oversee attendance tracking and compliance with district, state, and program requirements for all enrolled students. Maintain accurate records and reporting related to grades, attendance, and program participation. Serve as a primary liaison for parents and guardians, building strong relationships and clear communication channels. Provide guidance and support to families regarding program expectations, academic progress, and student success. Address concerns and collaborate with families to support student engagement and achievement. Work closely with district leadership, school administrators, teachers, and support staff to align program goals with district priorities. Report directly to the Assistant Superintendent of Instruction and Continuous Improvement, providing regular updates on program implementation, outcomes, and needs as requested. Participate in district planning efforts related to instructional innovation, middle school programming, and continuous improvement. Other middle school duties as assigned
