The hours for this position are 7:15 am-3:45 pm M-F.
Expectations:
Plans and implements movement for elementary students in grades K-4 one day a week. Plans and implements movement for middle school students in grades 5-8. Plans with and assists the teacher in preparing materials and supplies in advance for activities. Is flexible with schedule changes, and can transition easily from one class to the next. Maintains leadership skills with children and has strong classroom management skills. Shares in the development and implementation of written lesson plans. Becomes familiar with the teacher's written lesson plans, the daily schedule, methods for recording attendance, and all other daily duties of the teacher. Assists the Lead Teacher in planning and maintaining a safe, clean, learning environment and in assuring the well-being and safety of the children in his/her care. Maintains a cooperative attitude of working with children. Assists the Lead Teacher with behavior management during both group instruction and independent work times. Assists the Lead Teacher in implementing the developmental assessment for each child to determine the child's strengths and areas in which each child may need support. Assumes the teacher's role in leading selected activities during designated parts of the class day on a periodic basis for training purposes. Communicate professionally with peers, supervisors, parents, and students. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
The strongest applicants will: Have a minimum of 1-year experience in an Elementary or Middle School classroom. A bachelor's degree in Elementary education, Secondary education or a related field. Be able to manage materials and individualized instruction. Maintain regular attendance and punctuality. Be comfortable in a professional learning environment. Have a deep respect for children. Adhere to the professional code of conduct adopted by The Cooper School.
