Middle School Teacher Position Position Overview:

Galileo Preparatory Academy (GPA) is a learner-centered school that serves bright, creative, and outside-the-box thinkers who may not thrive in conventional classrooms. Many of our students have experienced school-related anxiety or burnout—not because they lack ability, but because traditional models failed to honor their learning styles and emotional needs. At GPA, we strive to reignite their love of learning through a personalized, highly-customized, adaptable approach—one that prioritizes hands-on experiences and thoughtfully weaves in technology to enrich meaningful, experiential growth. We incorporate innovative elements such as project-based learning with real-world application, self-paced, mastery-based academic work, ample time for exploration of personal passions, apprenticeships, a strong emphasis on social-emotional learning and fostering a growth mindset, and learner-centered, multi-age Studios. The Lead Teacher will work in the Studio Monday through Friday, with additional hours outside of the school day as needed for planning, documenting, communicating with parents, and administrative tasks. This position is for a Middle (Grades 6-8) or School Lead Teacher—we have flexible hiring between these two roles. The Lead Teacher role at GPA is ideal for a self-motivated educator who can wear multiple hats: teacher, coach, facilitator, mentor, and guide. Lead Teachers are expected to inspire our learners to explore, be curious, and take ownership of their learning, monitor student progress on our self-paced curriculum, and facilitate group-based learning and projects as needed.

You believe in voice, choice, and personal responsibility, and you help students own their learning journey. You're organized, growth-minded, and ready to play a central role in a small, dynamic school community.

Ideal candidates will have:

Confidence in differentiating instruction for learners of varying ages, abilities, and learning styles. Comfort working with diverse learners, including neurodivergent students and others who benefit from individualized approaches to learning. Experience integrating self-paced online learning tools with hands-on, experiential learning. Proven excellence in written and oral communication skills. This is a full-time, salaried position. Start date and onboarding will be discussed with the administrative team.

Pay:

$45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
