Job Description

About Spring Hill Christian Academy Spring Hill Christian Academy (SHC) proudly serves K-8 families across Middle Tennessee, including Spring Hill, Columbia, Thompson Station, and the surrounding communities. As a private Classical Christian institution, we are committed to fostering academic excellence rooted firmly in a Biblical worldview. We intentionally maintain small class sizes to cultivate a close-knit, family-style learning environment. Our mission is to partner with parents to raise young men and women who are equipped to reason, discern, and apply Truth as the Lord guides them toward their full potential. We achieve this through the integration of Scripture, time-tested classical education methodologies, small student-to-teacher ratios, and a supportive community. Summary If you have a heart for working with children in a faith-based environment, this role is a perfect fit. The After School Program Teacher oversees and cares for K-8 students during after-school hours. Responsibilities include coordinating daily activities, supplemental academic exercises, games, crafts, outdoor recreation, and homework assistance until students are picked up by their parents. This role also includes minor administrative tasks to keep the program organized and running smoothly. This is a part-time position from 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM on active school days. The After School Program Teacher reports directly to the Principal. Comprehensive on-site job and safety training will be provided. Responsibilities Deliver attentive, responsible care to all participating students. Treat each child with genuine kindness and compassion. Strictly uphold all school safety protocols. Keep the after-school environment clean, sanitary, and well-organized. Maintain a professional demeanor and respect family privacy at all times. Facilitate enriching educational activities, including homework help and study hall supervision. Implement and encourage age-appropriate socialization, learning, and play. Provide structured guidance and accountability in a gentle manner. Supervise student restroom use appropriately and as needed. Motivate and encourage children to participate in group activities. Maintain an uninterrupted direct line of sight; students must be supervised at all times with no exceptions. Collaborate with school staff to address behavioral or situational challenges. Monitor students for health, behavioral, or emotional changes and report observations to staff. Guide children toward positive behavior using approved, supportive discipline methods. Accurately track childcare records, including student check-in and check-out times. Manage the front reception desk as required. Secure the facilities by locking all entrances/exits and turning off lights before leaving. Notify the Board immediately in emergencies and contact 911 if necessary. Qualifications Prior experience in childcare, youth ministry, or education. Must be at least 18 years of age. Ability to successfully clear a comprehensive background check. Strong understanding of the developmental needs of school-aged children. Self-motivated individual capable of working independently with minimal supervision. Excellent verbal and written communication skills characterized by courtesy and professionalism. Proven ability to follow both written and verbal instructions. Capable of addressing parent inquiries gracefully or directing them to the appropriate administrator. Dependable, in good health, well-groomed, and consistently polite. Strong personal alignment with the mission, vision, and core values of SHC.
