CTE Culinary Arts Teacher
11 month position (220 days)
Blacksburg High School
Montgomery County Public Schools in Virginia is accepting applications for a Culinary Arts teacher position that is available at Blacksburg High School for the 2026-2027 school year. This is an 11-month position.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach Culinary Arts courses to middle school/high school students based on current industry standards and state curriculum
Facilitate student development and application of leadership, social, civic, and content-specific skills through the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), the Career and Technical Student Organization for Family and Consumer Sciences education
Manage technology and curriculum
Document and maintain student competency records Work cooperatively with others in the education setting
Prepare students for employment or further education
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Hold or be eligible for a Virginia Collegiate or Postgraduate Professional Teacher's License with appropriate endorsement to teach Family and Consumer Sciences Education OR a Technical Professional License in a specialized Family and Consumer Science area, of food occupations, or hospitality occupations
The Technical Professional license requires a family and consumer sciences certificate or associate's degree from an accredited institution in the teaching specialty area, and two years of successful, full-time or equivalent occupational experience within the last five years in the teaching specialty area
Experience in curriculum development and developing lesson plans
Experience using technology in the classroom
Ability to create an inclusive learning environment
Experience or working familiarity with Google Drive for instruction, collaboration, and coursework
Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and families
Ability to be dependable and punctual
Ability to teach courses in the following
Family and Consumer Sciences Pathways:
Culinary Arts and/org Food Science and Nutrition

Previous teaching experience, Technical knowledge and ability

SALARY:
$58,115.58
64 annually, with benefits, commensurate with experience (salary may change due to 2026-2027 budget considerations)
