Summary :

Function :
The Elementary Learning Center Teacher will lead in all program and instructional areas for elementary children, focusing on academic, character, and spiritual development. They will plan and oversee activities for after-school and summer tutoring, supporting students academically through individualized intervention and hands-on learning, and prioritizing the development of literacy and math skills to build a strong foundation for success.
Requirements :
Personal confession of faith in Jesus Christ required. Must be a self-starter who enjoys and works well with others from a diverse background. Good communication and organizational skills are also required. Must have good driving record. Bachelor's degree preferred (or commensurate work experience). Prefer teaching and classroom experience with fundamental teaching skills in the areas of literacy, math, and classroom management. •
PLEASE NOTE
The ideal candidate has experience in both the areas of academic instruction and after-school programming . However, applicants who only have experience in one area (but who are willing and excited to learn/be trained in the other area) are still welcome to apply. Responsibilities include : Creating and implementing small group or individualized academic lessons for up to 10-16 students daily and monitoring student progress throughout the year Planning and leading daily Learning Center activities including Bible instruction and individualized lesson plans to be implemented by volunteer tutors Driving students in mini-bus from school to Learning Center daily (training provided) Supervising and investing relationally in students during academics, recreation, and transportation Actively cultivating and developing relationships with parents, teachers, and community partners Assisting with administrative tasks Participating in fund development and special events for the organization
Benefits:
This position comes with generous paid time off . The role's adherence to the Richmond Public School schedule typically provides 26-28 days off. In addition, staff are given a month off in the summer and 5 personal days which can be taken throughout the year, along with 5 sick days. School planning days are staff planning days. Health insurance stipend of $6,000 per year, 3% IRA matching, short-term disability Additional considerations: Position is directly responsible to the Learning Center Operations Director. Subordinates will include any additional part-time staff at the center and volunteers Typical hours are approx. 10am-6pm during the school year (10am-2:30pm planning and 2:30pm-6pm tutoring program with students) and 8am-4pm in the summer (includes one-on-one instructional time, professional development, and relationship building opportunities with students)
