The mission of The Sharon Academy is to nurture intelligent, independent and creative thinking in a small school community, awakening students to their immense potential and the difference they can make in the world.
Academic Center TeacherThe Sharon Academy High School (Grades 912)
Key ResponsibilitiesStudent Academic SupportProvide direct instructional support to students individually and in small groups in the Learning Center.
Assist students in understanding and completing assignments across subject areas including humanities, math, and science.
Help students develop strategies for reading comprehension, writing, studying, and test preparation.
Reinforce classroom instruction and help students apply learning strategies to their coursework.
Executive Functioning & Study SkillsSupport students in developing executive functioning skills such as: organization, time management, task initiation, planning and prioritizationHelp students track assignments, manage workload, and break large tasks into manageable steps.
Teach and model strategies for maintaining focus and completing tasks.
Student Engagement & Self-RegulationWork with students who struggle with attention, task persistence, and self-regulation.
Provide coaching and structure to help students remain engaged and productive during Learning Center time.
Support students in building independence, confidence, and self-advocacy skills.
CollaborationWork closely with the licensed special educator to implement learning plans and support strategies.
Communicate regularly with classroom teachers regarding student progress and needs.
Participate in team meetings when appropriate to support student success.
Learning EnvironmentHelp maintain a structured, supportive, and inclusive Learning Center environment.
Foster positive relationships with students while promoting accountability and growth.
Schedule30 hours per week (0.8 FTE) during the academic year.
M/F (8:30-3:15)T/Th (8:30-1:30)W (8:30-2:45)QualificationsBachelors degree required; degree in education or related field preferred.
Experience working with adolescents in an educational setting.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Ability to support students with diverse learning needs.
Experience supporting executive functioning and study skills development preferred.
Commitment to inclusive education and student-centered learning.

Director of Academic Services (Licensed Special Educator)Position OverviewThe Learning Center Teacher provides academic and executive functioning support to high school students in grades 912. Working under the supervision and direction of the Director of Academic Services, this role supports students who benefit from additional structure, coaching, and skill development to succeed in a general education environment. Teaching Qualifications:
Teachers must hold a teaching license or be qualified, through education and/or experience, to teach the subject(s) which they are hired to teach.
