Middle School Science Teacher

St. Francis Xavier School is seeking a Middle School Science Teacher. Candidates must be enthusiastic and student centered, and proficient in instruction and assessment. The Middle School Science Teacher will instruct students in grades 6-8 using NGSS and incorporate one extended period per week for middle school students for the use of the Science Lab. The Middle School Science Teacher will work closely with the Middle School team of teachers to evaluate and supervise students. St. Francis Xavier is a Catholic School. Teaching and modeling the Catholic faith and attending weekly mass as a school is an integral role teachers at St. Francis. Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and professional educator's license required. Entry level accepted and those eligible for licensure will be considered. The applicant will have a valid driver's license. The applicant must pass a background check and complete VIRTUS training (recognizing child abuse).

Duties include:

Additional requirements include supervision of middle school students at morning/afternoon duties as well as recess/lunch duties. The Middle School Science Teacher will be required to participate in weekly faculty meetings, school in-services, parent-teacher conferences and after school activities (as per the school calendar). Other duties include planning and organizing appropriate learning experiences that are based upon need, interest, ability and learning style of individual students, demonstrating knowledge of subject(s) through instructional practices, maintaining productive lines of communication with students, parents and colleagues concerning both the academic and social progress of all students. The Middle School Science teacher will oversee the needs of all the middle school students for the school's annual Science Fair.
