Job Description

Lead After School Teacher Seattle, WA 98105 From $23.50 an hour - Part-time From $23.50 an hour - Part-time Laser Childcare Lead Teacher (PT, Non-exempt) (North East Seattle) The Program Join us in our work of strengthening families and community through our enriching after school and camp programs at Bryant and Laurelhurst schools! We help elementary-age children flourish by offering an environment where all children in our care can grow, respect, and enjoy one another. Laser Childcare fosters independence, creativity, and joy through a balance of structured and flexible activities. The Position Primary Functions:
Responsible for leading the classroom on a daily basis, ensuring a high quality, positive learning environment for children, collaborating with Supervisors and Teachers, planning and implementing curriculum, supervising and engaging with children, and building relationships with families. Must be available to work five days per week. Outstanding Child Experience Accountable for children experiencing a positive, supportive, high-quality learning environment Ensures clear communication, organization, and planning around the daily schedule Manages daily classroom logistics, supervision, and dynamics with mentoring support from Site Supervisors Sets up classroom environment to maximize child success Prioritizes child safety in all aspects of program Plans and implements developmentally appropriate curricula that align with children's interests and reflects values of equity, diversity, and the children's home cultures and lived experiences Actively supervises and engages with children Builds positive, professional relationships with families Manages, delegates, and executes on daily logistics, including maintaining the schedule, managing transitions, making adjustments as determined by the Site Supervisor, snack prep, chores, attendance, setting up and closing down the room Ensures implementation and alignment of curriculum and child experience with the planning and expectations of the Site Supervisors Leadership Responsible for the classroom running smoothly and effectively on a daily basis Collaborates and communicates with, delegates to, and supports the Teacher in the room throughout the day Supports Teachers' learning and professional growth, under the guidance of the Site Supervisors Helps train Teachers in basic classroom activities, management, and daily logistics Schedules, plans, and runs room meetings Asks for and receives help, support, and guidance from Site Supervisors as needed and appropriate Communicates daily challenges and successes to Site Supervisors, including alerts for escalation of child or family support Maintains appropriate documentation, such as incident reports, child behavior monitoring, curriculum, etc. Ensures daily compliance with pertinent licensing regulations Models a high level of professionalism, including direct communication, use of EQ skills, and maintaining confidentiality and boundaries Highly Desired Qualifications Collaborative, team player mentality Ability to effectively communicate with children, co-workers, and families Experience working with children Have a high school diploma or GED and be at least 18 years old Early Childhood Education credits Available Monday through Friday Compensation $500 signing bonus after certain number of hours worked . Position rate is $22.00 - $23.50/hr DOE. Paid sick, personal and holiday leave after 90 days of employment. Annual retention and holiday bonuses as well as annual merit-based raises. Optional 3% IRA matching program after 1 year of employment . This position requires a successful background check, First Aid/CPR certification (can be acquired after hire) and reference checks and will remain open until filled.
