Position Summary This is a full-time, hourly position with benefits. Pay is set at Grade 12, DOE. The Nolan Center Attendant
  • Museum Collections performs professional and technical work in support of the Nolan Center Museum's collections, exhibits, and public services.
This position is responsible for maintaining collection records, assisting with artifact preservation and exhibit preparation, conducting historical research, and helping interpret Wrangell's cultural and historical heritage for residents and visitors. The position also assists with visitor services and gift shop operations as needed. Minimum Requirements High school diploma or GED required. Three (3) years of experience in museum operations, collections management, archives, cultural resource management, public history, or a related field preferred. Knowledge of Wrangell and Alaska history, museum collections management principles, exhibit preparation, and preservation practices preferred. Strong research, organizational, record-keeping, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in the care and handling of museum artifacts. Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work within museum and exhibit spaces for extended periods. Successful completion of a background check may be required due to the position's responsibility for museum collections.
