Job Description

Gallery Educator (Temporary, Part-Time) Education & Public Programs Reporting to the Manager, Gallery Learning, the Gallery Educator facilitates object-based, interactive tours for K-12 students who visit the museum using objects from LACMA s collection as part of Gallery Learning. This is a temporary, part-time position (up to 29 hours per week).
Responsibilities:
Facilitates student discussion and object analysis based on LACMA s collections of art or special exhibitions in a gallery environment using aligned curriculum, inquiry-based discussion strategies and hands-on activities. Maintains familiarity with the Museum s collection of art and special exhibitions. Welcomes, engages, liaises, and orients students and teachers. Assists the Gallery Learning School Tour Coordinator in preparing and maintaining the inventory of materials and supplies for K-12 guided tours. Promotes NexGenLA to students, teachers, and chaperones who participate in the school tour program and live in Los Angeles County. Attends meetings and trainings, as needed. Facilitates visitor engagement for self-guided school tours. Maintains regular and reliable attendance. Other duties as assigned within LACMA s Education and Public Programs department.
Benefits:
The expected hourly rate for this Los Angeles, CA-based position is $21.15, subject to change.
Qualifications:
An Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in Art History, Art Education, or Studio Art, and at least one year of teaching experience preferred. A combination of related education, training, and teaching experience will be accepted. Experience with digital platforms such as Zoom, Google Meets, Google Docs, and Google Slides Fluency in a second language, such as Spanish, is preferred but not required. Ability and willingness to work flexible hours Strong, effective, and demonstrable written and oral communications, relationship-building, and presentation skills.
