Museum Associate Chicago Maritime Museum Chicago, IL Job Details Full-time $17 - $18 an hour 19 hours ago Benefits Free parking Qualifications Filing Bachelor's degree Attention to detail Appointment scheduling Editing Full Job Description About us: At the Chicago Maritime Museum, on the River Level of the Bridgeport Art Center, we explore how Chicago's waterways have shaped the region's past and present. Our mission is sharing Chicago's history, from the first people who lived in what would become Chicago to the present including the Chicagoan who became the first Black sailor to solo-circumnavigate to globe via the five Great Capes. Through exhibitions, education, programming, and events, CMM brings these important stories to a local and international audience and visitors of all ages.
Role Overview:
The Museum Associate works closely with visitors, volunteers, and staff to ensure an enjoyable museum experience and contributes to its daily operations.
Responsibilities:
Act as the face of the museum, maintaining and managing the front desk Process ticket sales, memberships, donations, and store purchases Track visits and visitors for museum outreach Maintain the museum's membership database Field general museum inquiries via phone and email Assist with museum events, occasionally on evenings and weekends Schedule museum tours Assist with museum social media, communications and email campaigns Maintain and edit the CMM website Submit supply orders as needed Replenish items from inventory in the museum store as needed Check the museum's mailbox daily, process and file checks and important documents Be knowledgeable about exhibitions, events, and programming at the museum
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree, can be in process
  • Customer service experience, preferably at a museum or cultural institution
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with attention to detail and a commitment to excellence.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse team.
Pay:
$18/hr
