Conservation Head

  • Time)Toledo Zoo & Aquarium Our Conservation Department is currently seeking Part-Time Head
  • Starting Technicians We are seeking two part-time technicians to handle daily care and husbandry of our Lake Sturgeon restoration initiative and provide support for our Blandings Turtle and Copperbelly Watersnake head-starting programs.
This position reports to the Director of Vertebrate Conservation, is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act, requires a minimum of 24 hours worked and may require work on weekends and holidays.

Daily feeding, cleaning, and care of the captive conservation collection. Collecting accurate data, including weights, measurements, feedings, etc.

Attention to detail, especially pertaining to the head-started animals. Weekly collection updates to supervisor.

Training and supervising teenage volunteers or staffAdditional Zoo-related tasks as required. Minimum Training & Qualification Must be 18+ years of ageWillingness and ability to work varying hoursCommitment to maintaining a safe work environment Dedication to accurate and thorough data collection Self-motivated with a positive attitude Respectful and professional in interactions with other team members, partners, and the public Must have the ability to lift 50lbsThe Toledo Zoo is a drug-free workplace, including marijuana. Additional Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degreePrior experience working with captive turtles, snakes, or fish.

Previous work with teenage volunteers or community outreach.
