Description:

  • The Knoxville Gallery Coordinator is the face of Arrowmont for the gallery and all gallery events in Knoxville.
The ideal candidate is outgoing, comfortable engaging customers and working independently, knowledgeable about the mission of Arrowmont and is a great communicator and problem-solver. This role qualifies for accrued paid time-off on a prorated basis and retirement contributions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Open and close the gallery for established hours, and special events throughout year Protect works of art from theft, vandalism, and accidental damage. Immediately notify Galleries & Collections Manager of any changes in the condition of works Interact with visitors about Arrowmont, artwork, artists, and provide general assistance Facilitate sales through LightSpeed Create UPC labels and add inventory to Marketplace displays Maintain cleanliness, including dusting, sweeping, and taking out trash as needed Assist Galleries & Collections Manager with gallery installation, packing of artwork, and shipping Assist Galleries & Collections Manager with vetting potential artists through Slideroom Communicate with artists for exhibition needs and local businesses for event needs Collaborate with Galleries & Collections Manager to plan monthly enhanced exhibition events Photograph objects in Marketplace and Featured Gallery exhibitions for social media Create and post to the Arrowmont Galleries social media pages for all galleries and permanent collections, approved by Galleries & Collections manager and coordinated with Marketing team, according to set guidelines Prepare and send out consignment agreements for new artists and loan agreements for Featured Gallery exhibitions Prepare Featured Gallery wall labels for monthly exhibitions Prepare signage for monthly Featured exhibitions and enhanced events Keep accurate count of visitors and report those numbers and total sales on the tracking spreadsheet daily Assist with other activities as assigned Attend staff meetings at Gatlinburg Campus on the first Tuesday of each month

  • 5:00 pm Thursdays, 9:00 am
  • 5:00 pm Fridays, 9:00 am
  • 5:00 pm (2pm
  • 9pm on First Fridays) Saturday, 10:00 am
  • 5:00 pm Once a month on Wednesday before First Friday for the Featured Gallery turnover
  • 10:30 am
  • 5 pm
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE
Interest in and knowledge of fine craft materials, their uses, and descriptions Experience in gallery retail/customer service, and art handling (i.e., packing artwork) Experience in gallery installation and deinstallation Positive communication and organizational skills; tactful and polite in dealing with the public (excellent customer service experience) Attention to detail and ability to work independently Computer literate (MAC), ability to work with Microsoft programs, and Adobe Creative Cloud Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs. (artwork, pedestals, etc.), climb stairs & ladders Additional knowledge and experience in one or more of the following disciplines: Ceramics, metals/jewelry, wood, fibers/textiles, or print Understanding of the craft school experience Bachelor's degree in fine arts or crafts preferred
