Job Description
Responsible for assisting the Sustainability Division with outreach, research, and marketing through community engagement, data management, material creation, and program promotion.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

DUTIES Assist with outreach and education activities, projects, including but not limited to schools and community based civic, faith-based organizations, business non-profit or community groups as well as special events. Assist in developing education and program promotional information to be provided to internal and external stakeholders. Assist with answering questions, preparing, emails, and similar administrative responses; provide support functions, upon request. Maintain educational and outreach materials inventory. Assist with special research studies including, but not limited to, compiling data, analyzing results, preparing reports or illustrative materials. Research and stay current with sustainable initiatives, programs, technologies, and trends. Assist with computer operations, including but not limited to data management, design, entry, retrieval, and analysis. Aid in implementation of marketing strategies and other department efforts to maximize engagement through all media outlets. Assist with the development of educational and program promotional information to be provided to internal and external stakeholders.SUPERVISORY/BUDGET RESPONSIBILITIES

Current enrollment in an accredited college or university in Marketing, Graphic Design, Advertising, Environmental, Biology, and/or Earth Science, Public Administration, Business Administration, or related program; and, One (1) year experience in teaching, education, research, data collection, or related field, OR Any combination of related education, experience, certifications, and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job.REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required: Knowledge of sustainability education and outreach. Skill in researching and writing, with a strong knowledge of business correspondence formatting, including syntax, grammar, and punctuation. Skill in communicating effectively, orally and in writing, for the needs of the audience. Skill at the intermediate level, working with Microsoft Office 365, Canva, Adobe, and software necessary to complete work tasks. Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences including both children and adults. Ability to foster partnerships to assist with resource allocation. Ability to form and maintain effective relationships. Ability to accurately prepare and maintain records, files, and reports. Ability to organize and coordinate work, including maintaining attention to details and quality, and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Must have and maintain a valid Class "C" Driver's License and valid state required minimum automobile liability insurance prior to employment (must obtain Texas Class "C" driver's license and state required minimum automobile liability insurance within 90 days of hire per state law) Must pass a drug test, driver's license check, criminal history background check, and social security number verification. SAFETY Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment; ensure equipment is in safe operating condition. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing; operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures. Promptly report unsafe conditions in the work area and/or any conditions that are not immediately correctable to the supervisor.WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Lifting no more than 20 pounds and carrying up to 10 pounds.Environment:
Works in an office, school, and in public. May work outside with exposure to sun, heat, cold and inclement weather; occasionally requires irregular and/or prolonged hours.Travel:
Travels to City of Denton buildings and professional meetings as required.Attendance:
Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position. Must be able to work evenings and weekends, as needed. Must be able to attend events, as needed.Mental Demands:
