Job Description

Reports to:
Executive Director Pay:
$18.5 per hour - $20 per hour depending on experience
Work Environment:
Work is performed primarily within the Snoqualmie Valley Museum's two buildings and within the community. Limited travel may be required with reimbursement provided as outlined in the personnel policies.
Schedule:
This is a part-time position for 8 hours a week on Saturdays 9:30 am to 5:30pm. There may be opportunities for extra hours to help cover staff time off and field trip visits from time to time.
QUALIFICATIONS
This entry-level position is ideal for an individual who is interested in gaining experience in museum operations and museum education. Qualified candidates will be reliable, organized, and able to engage warmly with museum visitors, staff, and volunteers. SVM will provide all necessary training. This is an ideal position for a student wanting to dip their toes into the museum field, an individual looking for something engaging and rewarding to give back to the community, or someone wanting a few extra work hours.
Specific Duties Include:
VISITOR EXPERIENCE
Be present in the museum during open weekend hours, ensuring the safety and security of the collection, exhibits, and facilities and a positive experience for visitors. Welcome visitors to the museum, answer questions about the exhibits and Snoqualmie Valley history, and assist with purchases in the gift shop.
VOLUNTEER COORDINATION
Oversee the work of volunteers who are scheduled on Saturday. This may include providing guidance and directions in alignment with the direction of the Executive Director and Educator. This might also include communications between these volunteers and, Educator the Executive Director.
COLLECTIONS CARE
As time allows, process backlog of accessions under direction of the Executive Director. Create, maintain, and update collections records as needed.
EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING
Assist the Educator in the preparation of lesson plan materials for K-12 students. Foster an inclusive environment that promotes learning and development. Maintain a positive and organized environment that encourages visitor participation and learning. Communicate effectively with visitors, and other staff members. Development Assist Executive Director with membership and donation data entry, thank you letter creation and printing. Assist fellow staff with potential social media, blog, etc historical research and content creation. OTHER Follow all museum policies and procedures as outlined in the personnel policies and other organization documents. Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director. Job Summary The Visitor Services positions plays a vital role in supporting the museum enhancing the museum experience for experience. This position involves working closely with visitors in a museum setting. About the Museum Team You will be joining a small but growing team of four. Our Executive Director went full-time in June 2025, our Educator went full-time in May 2026. We are joined by another visitor services employee who covers Sundays and our Collections Assistant who is at two days a month. Over the last three years we have tripled visitation and increased our hours from 16 hours a week year round to 48 hours a week year round. We are now open Thursday through Tuesday, 10am to 5pm; closed Wednesdays and federal holidays.
