Responsibilities include:
Program Leadership and Administration Provide strategic oversight for the Art Across Campus initiative, ensuring alignment with University priorities and academic goals Lead development of a comprehensive campus art master plan in collaboration with Facilities, Planning, academic partners, and University leadership Chair and work closely with the Art Across Campus Committee to guide acquisitions, placements, and program initiatives Serve as the primary liaison among the Museum of Fine Arts, Facilities, academic units, and campus space stakeholders Establish workflows, safety protocols, and insurance procedures for the care and display of artworks Develop and manage annual budgets in coordination with the College of Fine Arts and Facilities Form and convene ad hoc working groups for site-specific or emerging art initiatives Participate on relevant committees, including the Art in State Buildings Program Supervise staff and student employees, as appropriate Collection Stewardship and Digital Management Oversee documentation, conservation, storage, and care of the Art Across Campus collection Implement and manage The Museum System (TMS) for cataloging, tracking, and public access Maintain accurate records for inventory, loans, and condition reporting in compliance with University and state policies Coordinate logistics for preparation, installation, rotation, and transportation of artworks Train and mentor students in collections practices and museum standards Educational Integration and Public Engagement Create experiential learning opportunities through internships, assistantships, and research collaboration Partner with faculty to integrate campus artworks into teaching and scholarship across disciplines Develop interpretive materials such as labels, QR codes, digital content, catalogs, and public programs Design and support public-facing engagement including tours, art walks, lectures, and artist talks Collaborate with University and College of Fine Arts communications teams to increase awareness and visibility Cultivate partnerships with local and regional arts organizations Fundraising and Advancement Partner with the College of Fine Arts and the FSU Foundation on fundraising and donor engagement strategies Identify opportunities for acquisitions, commissions, and long-term growth of the collection Manage the Art Across Campus Acquisition Fund and assist in stewarding gifts of art Qualifications Bachelor's degree and six years of related experience in cultural arts services or a high school diploma or equivalent and experience equal to ten years. (Note:
post high-school education and/or experience may substitute at a comparable rate.) Minimum of three years of experience in museum administration, collections management, or public art coordination Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects involving multiple stakeholders Strong organizational, administrative, and communication skills Experience supervising staff or student employees Master's degree in art history, museum studies, arts administration, studio art, or a related field, or equivalent experience Five or more years of leadership experience in art, museum, or public art programs Knowledge of The Museum System (TMS) or similar collections management systems Experience working within higher education or large-scale public art initiatives Success in fundraising, advancement, or grant development for the arts Helpful About This Role Recently recognized as a Forbes Best-in-State Employer, Florida State University is a place where creativity, scholarship, and public purpose intersect every day.
