Chicago, IL Job Details $17 an hour 6 hours ago Qualifications Customer communication Full Job Description Guest Services Associate (Events Focus) The Driehaus Museum The Driehaus Museum explores art, architecture, and design from the late nineteenth and early twentieth century in exhibitions and programs that illuminate the history and culture of this period, primarily in the United States and Europe. Located just steps from the Magnificent Mile, the Museum sits squarely at the center of the Chicago's cultural dialogue. The Guest Services Associate (Events Focus) position is an integral part of a small, intensely focused team that bears responsibility for maintaining the expected excellence of the Museum's visitor experience profile, providing exceptional guest experiences and tours, and helping to grow long-term support for the Museum. This role also plays a key part in supporting Museum events through guest check-in, ushering, and serving as an on-site resource for visitor inquiries. This position is ideal for an energetic and enthusiastic self-starter with general visitor services experience who wants to focus their efforts toward career growth in arts and cultural organizations.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Exemplify the Museum's standards of excellence in customer service and hospitality Work in unison with Guest Services Coordinators in Museum's overall customer experience efforts Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the history of the Museum, the historic interiors, architecture, and restoration of the Nickerson Mansion, the collection and temporary exhibitions. Orient Museum visitors to the different ways to explore the Museum and to gallery rules; accept payments; and assist with wayfinding and general customer service Regular observance of public spaces throughout the day to report facilities and operational issues that may impede on the customer experience and reputation of the Museum Conduct public and private group tours Promote and transact Memberships, Annual Fund Donations, and Programs tickets in Admission, Store, and in Tour interactions with Guests. Collaborate with all Guest Services staff to ensure efficient and effective inter-department communications and workflow Greet and check in guests attending events, ensuring timely and accurate attendance management Provide ushering support during events to maintain organization, guest flow, and an exceptional visitor experience Serve as an informed point of contact during events by addressing visitor inquiries related to the Museum and its offerings Perform other duties as assigned by the Guest Services Manager or Executive Director BA or BS degree in art, art history, art education, architecture, historic preservation, museum studies, or related field preferred Familiarity with museums and the museum experience Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills Excellent oral and written communication skills High level of initiative and strong work ethic Able to work in a team setting Strong interpersonal and presentation skills Database experience, preferably with Raiser's Edge or Altru Willingness to become Red Cross Certified in First Aid, CPR, and AED Ability to be on feet for up to 3 hours at a time Maintain a consistent yet flexible weekly schedule, with the ability to work evenings and weekends as required to support events The Driehaus Museum provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.
