Job Description

Camp Kingswood is a co-ed Jewish overnight camp located in Bridgton, Maine, for children ages 7-17. The waterfront of Camp Kingswood spans 1000 feet along Woods Pond, and includes the Swim Dock, Aqua Park (inflatable water toys), Ski/Sail Dock and the Canoe/Kayak/Fishing Dock. The Waterfront Director should have expertise and experience in at least one of these water activities, and will supervise the staff of all these areas. The Waterfront Director at Camp Kingswood plans and supervises the delivery of activities at Kingswood's waterfront that are safe, fun, and appropriate for campers' ages and abilities. The Waterfront Director also manages the facilities and equipment at the waterfront. Essential Job Functions Work with waterfront staff (swim, water ski, and boating instructors) to write lesson plans that meet camp goals Evaluate aquatics abilities of campers and staff Deliver creative swim and aquatics activities Assist in the planning and implementation of staff training Supervise waterfront staff to provide a safe and high-quality program Evaluate waterfront staff Schedule waterfront staff Set up waterfront area prior to and during staff training Teach and monitor proper use of equipment Conduct initial and end-of-season inventory of equipment Monitor equipment, and check or file for repair Conduct a daily check of equipment for safety and cleanliness Submit orders for supplies and equipment when needed Survey waterfront daily to keep the area free of hazards and debris Work with Camp Leadership and waterfront staff to develop program curriculum, awards program, and leadership programs Assist in planning special events on or near the waterfront Participate in staff meetings Participate in all camp activities, planning and leading those assigned The Waterfront Director also serves on the Camp Leadership Team, collaborating with other supervisors to lead overall camp programming Relationships The Waterfront Director will have direct relationships with the maintenance staff in terms of facility and equipment needs, such as docks, boats, etc. The Waterfront Director will also collaborate with other key area heads at camp, such as sports, arts, and adventure. In this supervisory role, the Waterfront Director also plays a role in being responsible for the well-being of the staff they supervise, and is responsible for building a happy and collaborative team environment, and positive and fun culture at the water front for campers and staff. The Waterfront Director will work closely with the Health Center staff and Emergency Response Team in times of emergency management and care. Qualifications 21 years or older Valid lifeguarding certification Experience in residential camping Certification in First Aid and CPR preferred Experience in development and delivery of recreational programs Experience in supervising others Ability to schedule staff Desire and ability to work with children outdoors Advanced certifications in watersports, swimming, or boating
