Overview Join us as an Automotive Museum Director and lead the charge in inspiring curiosity, celebrating automotive history, and engaging diverse audiences through innovative exhibits and dynamic programs. This pivotal role combines strategic leadership with hands-on involvement in collection management, educational initiatives, and community outreach. As the visionary at the helm of our museum, you will cultivate a vibrant environment that showcases automotive heritage while fostering meaningful connections with visitors of all ages. Your passion for automobiles and commitment to excellence will drive the museum's growth, reputation, and impact. Responsibilities Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance museum exhibits, educational programs, and community engagement initiatives. Oversee the management of the museum's collections, including cataloging, preservation, and research activities to ensure historical integrity and accessibility. Lead fundraising efforts by cultivating relationships with donors, writing grant proposals, and organizing special events to secure financial support for museum projects. Manage the museum's budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. Supervise staff and volunteers, providing mentorship and fostering a collaborative team environment focused on excellent customer service and visitor experience. Utilize social media platforms and digital tools to promote exhibits, events, and educational content to a broad audience. Deliver engaging public presentations, lectures, and tours that highlight automotive history and innovations to diverse audiences including schools, clubs, and community groups. Maintain strong working relationships with local schools by integrating classroom experience into educational programs that inspire young learners about automotive technology and history. Coordinate research projects related to automotive collections and historical topics to support scholarship and exhibit development. Ensure compliance with safety standards, legal regulations, and museum policies while maintaining a welcoming environment for all visitors. Qualifications Proven experience in museum management or a related field with a focus on collections or educational programming. Strong background in fundraising strategies including grant proposal writing and donor relations. Excellent communication skills—public speaking, writing, presentation delivery—and the ability to engage diverse audiences effectively. Demonstrated organizational skills with experience managing budgets, databases, catalogs, and collections records. Familiarity with social media management tools and digital marketing strategies to boost visibility. Experience working with children or in classroom settings is highly desirable for developing educational outreach programs. Knowledge of collection management practices including cataloging techniques and preservation methods. Ability to lead a team with strong interpersonal skills while fostering a positive work environment focused on collaboration.
