Job Description

The Associate Director of Competitive Swim reports directly to the Executive Director of Competitive Swim. This position provides leadership, supervision, and direct coaching for YMCA competitive swim programming across assigned branches. The Associate Director directly coaches designated training groups and supports the broader mission, vision, and strategic goals of the YMCA and the YSSC swim team.
Qualifications:
  • Education or personal experience relevant to competitive swimming.
  • Competitive swim coaching experience required.
  • Required or able to obtain within 30 days of hire: o Safety Training for Swim Coaches and/or Lifeguard Certification o CPR/AED, First Aid, Oxygen Administration, Bloodborne Pathogens o Foundations of Coaching 101 o Principles of YMCA Competitive Swimming
  • Demonstrated maturity, professionalism, and sound judgment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of the YMCA of Greater Spartanburg.
  • Physical Requirements of the job include: Walking, carrying, sitting, seeing, hearing, crouching, lifting (up to 25 pounds), pushing, kneeling, standing, and speaking in a fast-paced aquatic environment.
