Resume and Cover Letter are required Job Details Job Summary The Museum Collections Manager (Art Collection dept) performs responsible curatorial work involving acquisition, registration, conservation, preservation, and interpretation of collection items used in exhibits and educational programs. Core Responsibilities Manages the collection, coordinating acquisitions, facilitating exhibitions and loans, and performing assignments requiring technical curatorial expertise such as object care, cataloging and research support. Supervises and participates in the installing and handling of all artifacts and determines suitability of artifacts for display. Maintains collection management records, related computer database, and storage area. Makes recommendations concerning identification, evaluation, interpretation, conservation, and preservation of all artifacts used in exhibits and programs to include consulting on contract arrangements with artifact owners. Manages and coordinates museum collection management procedures - including accessioning, deaccessioning, and loan administration - ensuring accurate records, policy compliance, and implementation of approved decisions. Coordinates and performs inventory of the collection. Monitors and tracks use of objects by faculty and staff. Assists with estimates of time and materials required for jobs. Promotes safety and environmental protection by immediately reporting unsafe situations, spills, and accidents; following University safety plans/procedures/protocols; and participating in appropriate safety training. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in a related field. One (1) year of related work experience. This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure. Preferred Qualifications Experience with collection management systems. Experience with digital cataloging standards. Hands-on experience in collection care and registration. Fluency in both English and Spanish. Experience with loans, shipping, and exhibition coordination. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Collection Development Strategic Planning Artifact Care Communication Change Management Materials Estimation Collaboration Working Conditions Office Environment. Occasional exposure to photographic chemicals and those used in handling artifacts. Some travel, evening, and weekend work. Physical Demands Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required, only occasionally. Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally. This position will work primarily on campus . Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility. This position is contingent upon a successful background check. Verification of a valid driver's license and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) may be completed as applicable.
