You'll be part of the team working to build a new home for MPM—the largest cultural project in Wisconsin's history—and ensuring financial sustainability for the Museum's future. Under the direction of and reporting to the Senior Director of Major Gifts, the Major Gifts officer is responsible for seeking out opportunities and developing and implementing initiatives to identify, cultivate, and solicit a portfolio of individuals and family foundations to meet annual and capital campaign goals, and ensure a strong and growing base of financial support for the Museum.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage a portfolio of approximately 125-150 major gift prospects (giving capacity of $25,000+ for the capital campaign and $1,000+ for the annual fund). Make face-to-face presentations to donors, and coordinate involvement from the President, Sr. VP of Development, board members, volunteers, and other staff as needed. Demonstrate a keen sense of curiosity for donors by asking the right questions; demonstrate the ability to personally adapt as needed to meet the needs of donors. Solicit portfolio donors to perpetuate their giving through planned gifts to meet annual commitments goals.General Responsibilities:
Support the Development Team in developing strategic plan objectives. Participate in departmental and Gift Officer Team meetings. Attend Membership and Development department events as assigned (approximately 15-35 events annually in the evenings and some weekends). Represent MPM and carry out responsibilities using independent professional judgement in a positive and professional manner in keeping with the leadership level of this position. Lead by example in enthusiasm, integrity, and confidentiality.Qualifications:
A minimum bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university A proven track record of closing gifts and a minimum of 3-5 years of major gift work. The ability to manage a fast-paced and deadline-driven portfolio. Possess excellent writing, communication, presentation, organizational, and research skills. Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)Benefits:
