Full Job Description Location:
On-site at a partner school (varies by assignment)
Schedule:
1-4 hours per week, after school
Program Length:
~10 weeks
Start Date:
Rolling openings based on school schedules
Compensation:
$50+ per instructional hour (flexible based on experience, program, and commute) About the Role Concorde Education is seeking a Drumline Instructor to lead engaging after-school programs for students. This role focuses on building foundational marching percussion skills, including rhythm, timing, technique, and ensemble performance. Instructors will guide students through structured, hands-on rehearsals that emphasize musicianship, discipline, and teamwork. Programs are designed for beginner to intermediate students, with flexibility based on site needs and available instruments. What You'll Teach Students will learn core drumline skills through active rehearsal and performance-based learning.
Topics may include:
Basic playing techniques (grip, posture) Rhythm and timing (counting, subdivision, tempo control) Rudiments and sticking patterns (age/level appropriate) Ensemble skills (listening, alignment, dynamics, balance) Instrument familiarity (snare, bass, tenors/quads, cymbals as available) Rehearsal routines and performance preparation Responsibilities Lead structured, engaging drumline sessions aligned to program goals Adapt instruction for different skill levels and experience Maintain a safe, organized, and positive learning environment Support student growth in rhythm, coordination, and ensemble playing Communicate with program staff regarding attendance and progress Prepare students for a culminating performance or demonstration (if applicable) Qualifications Minimum of 60 college credits (completed or in progress) Experience in drumline or marching percussion (performance and/or instruction) Experience working with students (schools, camps, or youth programs) Strong classroom management and communication skills Reliable, punctual, and professional Who This Role Is Great For Music educators and band directors College students in music or percussion programs Performing musicians with drumline experience Teaching artists and instructors who enjoy working with youth About Concorde Education Concorde Education partners with schools nationwide to provide engaging after-school programs in STEM, arts, and enrichment topics.
