Job Description

School Overview Justin-Siena is a co-educational independent Catholic high school sponsored by the De La Salle Christian Brothers. We serve more than 670 students from Napa, Solano, and Sonoma Counties. Our 40-acre campus is home to a college preparatory curriculum, a competitive interscholastic athletic program, a highly regarded performing arts program, and an array of co-curricular opportunities. Position Summary Justin-Siena High School seeks a passionate and mission-driven part-time Instrumental Music and Multimedia teacher to join our Visual and Performing Arts Department. This 10-month position is responsible for teaching Beginning and Advanced Instrumental Music as well as a possible Multimedia and Sound Production, and for producing a minimum of two concerts per year. The ideal candidate brings both instructional expertise and a personal love of music, whether as an educator, performer, or both and is eager to build a dynamic, student-centered instrumental program. Grounded in the school's Lasallian Catholic values, this educator will serve as a positive role model, adapt instruction to meet diverse musical backgrounds, and collaborate actively with departmental colleagues to deliver curriculum aligned with California Arts Standards. Essential Responsibilities and Duties The essential responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: Teaching one section of beginning Instrumental Music and Advanced Instrumental Music and one section of Multimedia and Sound Production. Produce at minimum 2 concerts per year. One concert in the Fall or Winter, and one concert in the Spring. Teach music curriculum that adheres to the most recent California Arts Standards. Collaborate within the Visual and Performing Arts Department to develop and deliver our curriculum. Due to the diversity of our students' musical backgrounds and experience, the ability to adapt or arrange music for their instrument of choice, and for their level is desirable, and has proven to be effective. Performance will be measured by Complete, thorough and successful completion of assigned tasks by deadlines established Classroom visits and formal observations by Assistant Principal and Principal Proactive and consistent communication to necessary parties including internal staff, parents, students, coaches, volunteers, and other constituencies' Ability to manage multiple projects and consistently meet deadlines Ability to collaborate with a team and lead students Ability to embrace, support, and enhance the mission, goals, and values of Justin-Siena Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Demonstrated ability to assume responsibility without direct supervision, exercise initiative and judgment; to prioritize and organize workload to complete assignments in a timely manner, and to make decisions within the scope of assigned authority. Ability to handle deadlines and stressful situations in a calm, orderly and customer service oriented manner.
Position Reports to:
Principal and Assistant Principal Position hours: Exempt - 10
Month Employee Compensation:
Compensation is commensurate with education and experience. The range of compensation for a full time teacher is between: $24,452 - $44,540. As a part-time position, the salary will be adjusted accordingly. The selected candidate must pass a pre-employment background check. Justin-Siena is an AA/EO/Title IX Employer.
