  • Contract Job Overview Creative Arts Instructors (Art, Music, Writing, Movement)
  • Contract Role We are seeking Creative Arts Instructors to deliver engaging, trauma-informed programming for youth in a secure facility setting with the San Diego County Probation Department at the Youth Transition Campus.
This role is ideal for artists, educators, and facilitators passionate about using creative expression to support youth development, emotional regulation, and skill-building through art, music, writing, and movement.
Location:
2801 Meadow Lark Dr. San Diego, CA 92123 What You'll Do Facilitate structured creative sessions (2 one-hour sessions daily) Teach sequential lessons in one creative medium at a time Guide youth in completing final creative projects or showcases Lead engaging activities in art, writing, music, movement, or mindfulness Support positive engagement and safe, structured group environments Track attendance and basic engagement notes Collaborate with Probation staff to support programming goals Creative Areas May Include Visual Arts (drawing, painting, collage) Creative Writing (poetry, journaling, storytelling) Music, rhythm, and spoken word Dance and movement (hip-hop, improvisation) Mindfulness and somatic expression Collaborative group projects Ideal Background 3+ years teaching or facilitating arts-based programming Experience working with youth or group settings Background in expressive arts, education, wellness, or community programs Comfortable working in structured or secure environments Trauma-informed or culturally responsive approach preferred Schedule 2 hours per day 7 days per week (excluding holidays) Sessions scheduled in advance What We're Looking For Passion for creative expression and youth engagement Ability to design fun, structured, skill-building activities Strong group facilitation skills Reliability and professionalism in a structured setting To Apply Please submit: Resume Short bio (150-250 words) 5-10 sample activity ideas
