Job Description

Part Time Combined Music Ensemble Teacher Come teach music with us! You teach well because you care deeply about students, believe in the power of artistic expression, and enjoy building an energetic and collaborative classroom environment. The Jewish Community High School of the Bay needs an inspiring music teacher like you. For the 2026-2027 school year, this part-time position includes leading a dynamic performance-based music ensemble that brings together vocalists, instrumentalists, and students interested in both. The program emphasizes musical growth, creative collaboration, and joyful performance while representing the school both within and beyond the JCHS community. When you join our arts department you will: teach students in a collaborative ensemble environment that supports both singers and instrumentalists of varying experience levels help students strengthen their technical musicianship, creativity, and confidence as performers guide students in preparing music for performances both on campus and in the broader community develop repertoire that reflects a wide range of musical traditions and student interests, including classical arrangements, film music, rock, jazz, and music connected to Jewish holidays and culture teach elements of music theory, including written, aural, and performance-based skills that support musicianship and improvisation support students interested in improvisation, composition, and creative musical exploration introduce students to music-specific technology skills such as audio engineering, sequencing, music production, and notation software create opportunities for students to work collaboratively while also developing individual artistic voice and technical skill have time during the school day to prepare engaging rehearsals and provide students with individualized musical support be directly involved in creating and maintaining a welcoming, equitable, and inclusive classroom environment work alongside creative colleagues who value collaboration, innovation, and interdisciplinary arts education work with supportive administrators who encourage professional growth, student-centered learning, and artistic experimentation support students and the JCHS community by engaging in life outside the classroom through concerts, school events, mentorship, and extracurricular activities As a pluralistic Jewish high school, JCHS students represent the diversity of Jewish practice and identity in the Bay Area.
