Job Summary Job Summary The Popular Music Conservatory at the Orange County School of the Arts is looking to fill the following teaching position: Vocal Music (Group & Workshop Focus)- This position emphasizes ensemble-based vocal training, contemporary vocal techniques, and workshop-style instruction designed to develop strong, versatile vocal performers. The ideal candidate is an experienced vocal teacher and active practitioner who can guide students in both foundational and advanced vocal performance skills, with a focus on contemporary and popular music styles. The instructor will foster a supportive and rigorous environment that develops technical skill, artistry, stage presence, and collaborative performance ability. This position focuses on group vocal instruction and workshop-based learning to prepare students for real-world performance environments. Instruction emphasizes technique, artistry, collaboration, and professional-level vocal execution within contemporary music styles. Letter of Introduction Resume Required Qualifications:
  • Professional experience as a vocalist, vocal coach, or music educator
  • Experience teaching group vocal classes or ensembles at the high school level or higher
  • Strong knowledge of contemporary vocal technique and performance practice
  • Ability to coach stylistically across pop, contemporary, and commercial vocal genres
  • Experience leading rehearsals, workshops, and performance-based instruction
  • Strong communication, classroom management, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a conservatory-style arts program
  • Experience mentoring young artists in a performance-focused environment
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional performance experience as a vocalist in contemporary or commercial music settings
  • Experience in directing vocal ensembles, choirs, or contemporary vocal groups
  • Knowledge of vocal health, technique development, and performance sustainability
  • Experience working with microphone technique, studio vocals, and live performance settings
  • Familiarity with contemporary music industry practices and performance expectations
  • Experience designing curriculum for workshop-based or project-based learning environments
  • Background working with high school or pre-professional performing arts students
