Job Description

Position Overview SOL-LA Music Academy is seeking a dedicated and inspiring Strings Teacher (violin, viola, and/or cello) to join our growing faculty. This role may include a combination of private lessons, group classes, ensemble coaching, and/or in-school programs across our partner sites, depending on the candidate's strengths and availability. We are looking for educators who combine strong musicianship with a deep commitment to student-centered teaching—educators who can challenge students to achieve their best while fostering confidence, creativity, and joy in the learning process. Key Responsibilities Teach weekly private lessons (beginner through advanced levels) Lead or assist with group classes and/or string ensembles Prepare students for recitals, concerts, and community performances Develop structured, goal-oriented lesson plans aligned with SOL-LA's standards of excellence Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment Communicate regularly with students and families regarding progress and goals Collaborate with faculty and administration to support program development Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Music Performance, Music Education, or equivalent experience Strong proficiency on violin, viola, or cello Experience teaching students of various ages and levels (private and/or group settings) Excellent communication and classroom management skills Passion for music education and working with young musicians Ability to adapt teaching to meet diverse learning styles and needs
Preferred:
Experience in nonprofit or community music school settings Experience with ensemble coaching or in-school programs Commitment to inclusive teaching practices and community engagement Experience with pedagogical approaches such as Suzuki, Kodály, Dalcroze, Colorstrings , or similar methodologies Schedule & Compensation Flexible schedule based on availability and enrollment Must be interested in building a teaching studio over time and available across multiple days per week Teaching may include afternoons, evenings, and weekends Opportunities for both in-school and after-school programs Opportunities for professional growth and expanded leadership responsibilities, including administrative and program development roles
Compensation:
