Music Teacher/Choir Director The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles (LA Catholics) - 3.5 Ventura, CA Job Details Part-time $48,200 - $53,000 a year 1 day ago Qualifications Writing skills Full Job Description Position Overview Our Lady of the Assumption School is seeking a dynamic, energetic, and deeply caring Music Teacher and Choir Director for the upcoming school year. Under the general direction of the Principal, the music teacher is responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing instructional lessons for grades TK through 8th. The curriculum must align with the California Common Core standards-based curriculum as well as the standards set forth by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
Schedule:
Flexible, part-time schedule of approximately 25 hours per week (specific schedules and hours to be discussed and finalized with the principal).
Salary Range:
$48,200.00 - $53,000.00 (Final compensation is determined based on internal pay policy, budget, skill sets, experience, training, and department needs).
General Responsibilities Instructional Leadership & Classroom Culture Curriculum Delivery:
Plan and implement a rigorous academic music curriculum in line with Common Core and Archdiocesan standards.
Catholic Environment:
Create, engage, and support an effective Catholic educational environment where all students can and will learn.
Classroom Management:
Demonstrate strong, positive classroom management skills tailored to various age groups.
Differentiated Instruction:
Organize subject matter effectively and utilize differentiation strategies to support diverse learning styles and student needs.
Liturgical & Extracurricular Music Programs Liturgical Choir:
Direct the school choir for weekly and monthly student Masses.
School Events:
Plan, organize, and execute major annual school performances, including the Christmas Program, Spring Concert, and other fine arts displays.
Professional Collaboration & Communication Teamwork:
Maintain a proven record of success working harmoniously with early childhood, primary, and secondary grade students, serving as a dedicated team player alongside colleagues, grade-level teachers, and staff.
Administrative Communication:
Communicate regularly and professionally with administration and staff to share instructional plans, upcoming projects, and student updates.
Community Engagement:
Maintain a strong willingness to collaborate and communicate effectively with parents and families.
Adaptability:
Fulfill other duties and responsibilities as designated by the principal.
Requirements Job Requirements Education & Credentials Degree:
Bachelor's Degree in Music, Education, or a related field (Desired but not required).
Credential:
Current California Teaching Credential (Desired but not required).
Experience:
Previous instructional or classroom teaching experience is preferred but not required.
Skills & Knowledge Communication:
Displays an ability to communicate clearly, warmly, and effectively both in writing and speech.
School Operations:
Exhibits an understanding of elementary school operations and collaborative faculty environments.
Safety & Compliance Background Check:
Criminal justice fingerprint and background clearance.
Safe Environment Training:
VIRTUS training certification (training can be provided upon hire). Wage Range The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
