Band Teacher Washington, DC Job Details Full-time 10 hours ago Qualifications Teacher collaboration Writing skills Teaching Full Job Description Archbishop Carroll seeks a full-time High School Band Director for the 2026-27 school year. Archbishop Carroll High School is a Catholic, college preparatory, co-educational school in the heart of Washington, DC. We welcome young people and empower them in a diverse, academically rigorous, and supportive learning environment. Our community works daily to think critically, creatively, and morally so that we can serve God with purpose. We are an International Baccalaureate World School and our curriculum aligns with the profile of an IB learner.

Role and Responsibilities Teach all levels of music, including beginning band, wind ensemble Produce band performances and competitions Plan and implement rigorous and engaging lesson plans Use data effectively to encourage and assess student growth Create a classroom culture built on respect, growth, and love of learning Use engaging strategies and cooperative learning techniques Develop strategies based on best practices to encourage critical thinking, strong writing and research skills, and use of primary sources. Communicate effectively with parents and families in order to best ensure student success Participate in the life of the school including spirit, student activities, and Christian service Support the Catholic identity of the school Be an active member of the Carroll adult learning community including attending all faculty meetings Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Has teaching experience, preferably in an urban, high school setting. Is certified to teach in MD, DC, or VA or is willing to gain certification within three years Demonstrates strong writing and communication skills, a capacity for organization and follow-through, collaboration, and flexibility. Has a growth mindset and a commitment to meeting the needs of every student in a diverse population. Is committed to his/her own learning and professional development.
