The ideal candidate will cultivate a love and appreciation for music while introducing students in grades K-8 to music history, musical cultures, performance, creativity, and self-expression. The Music Teacher will create engaging lessons that expose scholars to diverse musical genres, influential musicians, and the historical significance of music across cultures and time periods. This educator will foster confidence, creativity, collaboration, and a lifelong appreciation for the arts. Essential ResponsibilitiesInstruction & Student Learning Develop and deliver engaging music instruction for students in grades K-8. Introduce scholars to foundational music concepts including rhythm, melody, harmony, dynamics, tempo, and musical notation. Teach music appreciation through the exploration of various musical genres, cultures, and historical periods. Incorporate music history lessons that highlight influential composers, artists, and movements from around the world. Provide opportunities for singing, movement, listening, instrument exploration, and creative expression. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners. Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and risk-taking. School Culture & Community Promote a culture of excellence, respect, and collaboration consistent with Beacon College Prep's mission and values. Encourage students to develop confidence, discipline, teamwork, and perseverance through music. Support school-wide events, celebrations, assemblies, and performances. Collaborate with teachers and staff to integrate music into cross-curricular learning opportunities. Performance & Program Development Organize and coordinate student performances, showcases, concerts, and special events throughout the school year. Prepare students for school and community performances. Maintain music materials, equipment, and classroom resources. Assist in developing and growing the school's music and arts program. Professional Responsibilities Maintain accurate student records and progress monitoring. Communicate effectively with families regarding student growth and participation. Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and school events. Uphold all school policies, procedures, and expectations. Qualifications Required Bachelor's Degree in Music Education, Music, Education, or related field. Eligible for or holds a Florida Teaching Certificate. Experience working with children in grades K-8. Strong classroom management and organizational skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Passion for educating and inspiring young learners. Preferred Experience teaching elementary and middle school music. Experience directing performances, choirs, or instrumental ensembles. Ability to play one or more musical instruments.
