Job Description
St. Rita of Cascia High School, an Augustinian, Catholic College Preparatory School, founded in 1905 on the Southside of Chicago, is currently seeking a full-time Band Director and Music Teacher for the 2026-27 School Year. The successful candidate should be proficient on all band instruments and excel in teaching beginning to advanced musicians, bringing a dynamic leadership and energy for music and instruction. The successful candidate will also possess a strong commitment to education and have a willingness to work with an academically and demographically diverse student body; incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion practices into teaching, including cultivating an inclusive and supportive climate for all students. The successful St. Rita High School teacher is dedicated to the school's Augustinian Catholic mission of developing the whole student: spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, physically, and socially and to provide its young men with the necessary skills to succeed in college and in life, leading to life-long learning and personal awareness.
Responsibilities:
Directing and managing the Symphonic, Marching, and Jazz Band programs. Teaching courses related to instrumental music. The exact courses and obligations will be determined later, in part by the expertise and interest that this person brings to the role. Providing students with the opportunity to participate in band activities and competitions. Planning activities to achieve school, regional, and state recognition. Coordinating recruitment efforts for the sustained growth of the Band programs. Working with the Band Boosters (parent organization) promoting program development.Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a closely related field. Master's degree preferred. Valid Professional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate Music endorsement. High School teaching experience preferred. Night and weekend availability, as well as availability to lead a week-long summer band camp.Benefits:
