Principal Job Summary:
The music teacher develops in each pupil an appreciation of the art of music as part of general culture; teaches techniques of vocal and/or instrumental music expression; develops talents of pupils in the field of music; develops knowledge and skills in listening to and reading music.
Qualifications:
Valid Illinois State Board of Education Professional Educator's License with a music education certification. Willingness to sponsor and/or participate in extra-curricular activities.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan, develop and deliver music education curriculum for K-8 grade students. Cooperation with Building Principal and staff in providing musical programs for school assemblies, open house, parent meetings and seasonal programs. Plan and collaborates with teachers. Integrate technology into lessons. Confers with students, parents, and school personnel to resolve student problems. Communicates student progress with parents. Other duties as assigned. Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Perform the physical tasks necessary to monitor, supervise and physically assist students throughout the school day during a variety of instructional activities. Must be able to function effectively in an active, loud environment. Must be able to adapt to changes in the work environment as circumstances require.
