Full-Time Music Teacher for the 2026-27
School Year Parish/School:
St.
Bernard School Description:
The Music Teacher is responsible for delivering a comprehensive and engaging music education program for students in grades K-8 within a resource schedule. Instruction is aligned with the curriculum standards of the Archdiocese of Louisville and is designed to foster a love of music, creativity, and an appreciation for both performance and liturgical experiences. This role extends beyond the classroom, as the Music Teacher plays an integral part in the life of the school and parish community. The position includes coordinating and directing student performances, collaborating with faculty across grade levels, and working closely with the parish's Director of Music and Worship to support school liturgies and develop a children's choir. A practicing Catholic is preferred, with an understanding of and appreciation for Catholic liturgy and traditions. The ideal candidate is a collaborative and creative educator who demonstrates the ability to work effectively with colleagues and parish staff. This individual is highly organized and brings strong communication and classroom/behavior management skills to create a structured, positive learning environment. The teacher should be flexible and enthusiastic, with a passion for engaging and inspiring students of varying ages and abilities, helping each child grow in confidence, musical skill, and appreciation for the arts.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Music, Music Education, or a related field Valid Kentucky teaching certificate in Music (or related field), or the ability to obtain certification Experience teaching elementary and/or middle school students preferred Knowledge of music instruction aligned to Archdiocesan standards and an understanding of liturgical music preferred
