Jun 1, 2026 Job Description Marching Band Drumline Instructor BHS Marching Band Brockton High School is seeking a skilled and energetic Marching Band Drumline Instructor to lead and support the percussion sections of the BHS Marching Band, including both the Battery and Front Ensemble. This position focuses on developing strong rhythmic performance, ensemble precision, and confident marching technique, while working closely with the Marching Band Director, Assistant Director, and student leadership. Key Responsibilities Provide instruction for percussion section (Battery and Front Ensemble) during: Summer band camp Afterschool rehearsals Football games and parades Teach and reinforce proper percussion technique, timing, tone production, and ensemble cohesion. Instruct and coordinate battery marching fundamentals, visual presentation, and performance precision. Provide focused instruction for pit students, including keyboard technique, auxiliary percussion, timing, and musical balance. Support musical consistency between percussion and wind sections. Collaborate with the directing staff and student leaders to enhance overall performance quality. Assist with rehearsal preparation and organization, including: Copying and scanning music Preparing percussion materials Supporting section leaders Help manage and maintain percussion equipment and instruments. Assist with uniform fitting and distribution as needed. Promote a structured, positive, and inclusive learning environment for student musicians. Time Commitment Approximately 175-200 hours of work from June through November Approximately 10 additional hours per year assisting with equipment management, uniform fitting, and rehearsal preparation Preferred Qualifications Experience performing and teaching marching percussion or drumline Prior experience with marching band or drum corps preferred Strong understanding of percussion and marching techniques Ability to work collaboratively with directing staff and student leaders Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills Passion for mentoring high school musicians
