Lawrence High School, 70-71 N. Parish Road, Lawrence, MA 01843 Groton Hill Music Center is the region's premier nonprofit center for outstanding music education, professional performances, andmunity engagement programs. Our Music School offers lessons in 30+ instruments and voice for all ages in all musical styles with a faculty of 90+ professional teaching artists. We are currently seeking a dedicated instructor to join our Community Engagement team for the uing Lawrence Middle School Summer Band Program, housed at Lawrence High School. This is a fantastic opportunity to mentor young musicians and foster a love for performance within the localmunity. This individual will provide group instruction for all brass instruments. We are looking for an educator who can help middle schoolers improve their tone, range, and technical proficiency in a collaborative, high-energy environment.
PRIMARY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Delivering creative and effective brass instruction, in push-in and pull-out format, during Band rehearsals. This must include providing targeted feedback and coaching, delivering engaging instruction, adapting instruction to meet diverse learning needs, self-evaluating and integrating feedback, and appropriately supporting students with their Band music as necessary. Providing updates on student progress, addressing concerns, and collaborating on learning goals with the Band Director and Community Engagement and Summer Programs Manager Groton Hill Music School faculty members are responsible for: 1) inspiring and sharing their love of music with their students; 2) setting a high bar for students' levels of technical skill and musicality; and 3) clearlymunicating expectations and working toward d goals. Groton Hill offers many ancillary benefits to our faculty members, including a variety of paid professional performance opportunities and funding for professional development (by application). Timeliness and reliability, as well as strongmunication practices with both students/families and school staff, are essential. This position could lead to other teaching opportunities at Groton Hill in the future.
Qualifications:
Ideal candidates should have a degree in music and a minimum of three years of teaching experience, the ability to model and teach proper brass technique, and to manage a classroom effectively and positively.
