Job Description
Summary We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Music Teacher to join our team at JPS Middle School At Parkside. The ideal candidate will inspire and educate students in various aspects of music, including performance, theory, and appreciation. This full-time position offers an opportunity to foster a love for music among middle school students and contribute to their overall development through creative expression. Responsibilities Develop and implement engaging music curriculum for middle school students, focusing on performance, theory, and music history. Teach a variety of music classes, including choir, band, orchestra, and general music education. Organize and conduct rehearsals, performances, and music events throughout the school year. Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support their growth and development in music. Collaborate with other teachers and staff to integrate music education into the broader school curriculum. Encourage student participation in extracurricular music programs, including ensembles, competitions, and community performances. Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters creativity and encourages student expression. Communicate regularly with students, parents, and administration regarding student progress and music program updates. Stay current with music education trends, teaching methods, and technology to enhance the learning experience. Participate in professional development opportunities to improve teaching skills and knowledge of music education. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field. Valid teaching certification in Music for middle school education. Proven experience teaching music to middle school students, with a strong understanding of various musical styles and genres. Proficiency in one or more musical instruments, as well as vocal training and conducting skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, parents, and colleagues. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities. Passion for music education and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment. Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of students and staff. Familiarity with current music technology and educational software is a plus.
