Job Description
Summary We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Music Teacher to join our team at Violet Elementary. The ideal candidate will foster a love for music among students, encouraging creativity and self-expression through various musical activities. This full-time position requires a commitment to developing students' musical skills while promoting teamwork and collaboration in a supportive learning environment. Responsibilities Develop and implement engaging music curriculum for students in grades K-5, focusing on music theory, vocal techniques, and instrumental skills. Conduct individual and group lessons, ensuring that all students receive personalized instruction tailored to their unique needs and abilities. Organize and lead school performances, including concerts, recitals, and musical showcases, to provide students with opportunities to demonstrate their skills. Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate music education across various subjects and promote interdisciplinary learning. Assess and evaluate student progress regularly, providing constructive feedback and adapting teaching methods to enhance learning outcomes. Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and fosters a sense of community. Maintain an inventory of musical instruments and materials, ensuring that all resources are in good working condition. Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and school administration regarding student progress and music program initiatives. Stay updated on current trends in music education and participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practices. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field. Valid teaching certification in music education for elementary levels. Proven experience in teaching music to elementary-aged students, preferably in a school setting. Strong knowledge of music theory, vocal techniques, and various musical instruments. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students. Ability to create a nurturing and stimulating classroom environment. Proficiency in using technology and digital resources for music education. Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment. Passion for music and a desire to instill that passion in students. Travel Requirements Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required. Work Schedule Standard teacher work schedule as set forth in the Teachers' Unit Contract.
