Certified K-12 Band Instructor

Summary We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Certified K-12 Band Instructor to join the team at Tawas Area High School. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in music education, excellent communication skills, and the ability to inspire and engage students in a comprehensive band program. Responsibilities Develop and implement a dynamic band curriculum that meets state and national standards. Teach instrumental music to students in grades K-12, focusing on skill development, music theory, and performance techniques. Organize and conduct rehearsals, ensuring that students are prepared for performances and competitions. Plan and execute band concerts, festivals, and other public performances throughout the school year. Collaborate with other music educators and staff to create a cohesive music program. Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to enhance their musical abilities. Maintain instruments and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition. Engage with parents and the community to promote the band program and encourage student participation. Stay current with music education trends and best practices through professional development opportunities. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field. Valid teaching certification for K-12 music education. Proficiency in one or more band instruments, with strong conducting skills. Experience in teaching band at the K-12 level is preferred. Strong organizational and time management skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with students, parents, and colleagues. A passion for music and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment. Ability to work collaboratively with other educators and staff members.
