Music and Band Teacher St. Francis Borgia Grade School - Washington, MO St. Francis Borgia Grade School is seeking a talented, enthusiastic, and faith-filled Music and Band Teacher to inspire students through music education in a supportive Catholic school environment. This position is ideal for an educator who is passionate about helping students develop musical skills, creativity, confidence, teamwork, and a lifelong appreciation for the arts. At St. Francis Borgia Grade School, we believe music is an important part of forming the whole child. Through vocal music, instrumental instruction, performance opportunities, liturgies, and school events, students are encouraged to grow in confidence, discipline, creativity, and joy. Position Summary The Music and Band Teacher is responsible for providing engaging music instruction to elementary and middle school students while leading and developing the school band program. The ideal candidate will create a positive and organized learning environment where students feel encouraged to participate, perform, improve their skills, and share their gifts with others. Rooted in the mission of Catholic education, the Music and Band Teacher will support the faith life of the school through music, liturgies, prayer services, concerts, and other school or parish events. Key Responsibilities Music Instruction Teach general music classes using age-appropriate and engaging instructional strategies Introduce students to music theory, rhythm, vocal techniques, music appreciation, and performance skills Plan creative lessons that support musical growth, confidence, participation, and student creativity Prepare students for school performances, concerts, liturgies, prayer services, and special events as appropriate Encourage students to develop an appreciation for music and the arts Band Instruction Teach and direct the school band program Instruct students in proper instrument technique, music reading, rhythm, tone, and ensemble performance Rehearse and prepare students for concerts, liturgies, performances, contests, and special events Encourage teamwork, discipline, responsibility, confidence, and perseverance through ensemble participation Support students at varying levels of musical ability and experience Additional Responsibilities Maintain a positive, organized, respectful, and faith-filled learning environment Integrate Catholic values into instruction, classroom culture, and student interactions Collaborate with faculty and administration to support school programs, performances, liturgies, and events Communicate effectively and professionally with parents, students, staff, and administration regarding student progress, performance, and expectations Support the mission, philosophy, and Catholic identity of St. Francis Borgia Grade School Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, required trainings, and school events as needed Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Music, Music Education, or a related field preferred Teaching experience in music and/or band instruction preferred Ability to work with elementary and middle school students Strong musical knowledge and ability to teach both vocal/general music and instrumental band Strong classroom management, organization, and communication skills Ability to plan and lead student performances, concerts, and liturgical music as appropriate Positive attitude, flexibility, creativity, and willingness to collaborate with others Commitment to supporting the mission and values of Catholic education Working Conditions & Requirements Classroom and performance-based instructional setting within a Catholic school environment Work with students across multiple grade levels and ability levels Some evening or special event attendance may be required for concerts, performances, liturgies, or school events Completion of Archdiocesan Safe Environment/Protecting God's Children training and required background checks Ability to meet the physical and professional demands of music instruction, including standing, moving, supervising students, setting up equipment, and supporting performances Why Join St. Francis Borgia Grade School? $28,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
