(GCIEC) is a nonprofit trade association and IEC National chapter serving electrical contractors across the Greater Charlotte region. As part of a nationwide network of more than 50 IEC chapters, Greater Charlotte IEC supports the electrical industry through workforce development, apprenticeship training, continuing education, and industry advocacy. Our mission is to strengthen the electrical workforce by delivering high-quality education and training that advances professionalism, safety, and craftsmanship for merit shop contractors and their employees. About the Role Greater Charlotte IEC is seeking experienced electricians to serve as Electrical Apprenticeship Instructors in our U.S. Department of Labor-recognized electrical apprenticeship program. This is an industry-based instructional role, not a traditional academic teaching position. Instructors teach working electrical apprentices who are employed full-time by IEC contractor members and attend class in the evenings as part of their four-year apprenticeship. Instruction is delivered using the IEC National Curriculum and reinforced with real-world jobsite experience, practical examples, and mentorship. Instructors are hired on a year-to-year basis. Schedule and Commitment Minimum commitment of one evening per week, 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM Instructors are expected to arrive by 4:30 PM to prepare for class and assist apprentices prior to the start of instruction Additional opportunities may be available for instructors who are effective and available to teach multiple classes per week Year-to-year instructional agreement Greater Charlotte area (multiple training locations) Key Responsibilities Deliver classroom instruction aligned with IEC National Curriculum objectives Mentor apprentices who are actively working in the electrical trade Maintain accurate attendance and academic records using the IEC CMS Communicate clearly and professionally with apprentices and IEC staff Support apprentice success through professionalism, safety leadership, and engagement Participate in IEC events and activities as available Ideal Candidates Experienced electricians with strong NEC knowledge Professionals who enjoy teaching, mentoring, and leading by example Strong communicators with a commitment to safety and craftsmanship Prior teaching or mentoring experience is a plus, but not required Equal Employment Opportunity Greater Charlotte IEC is an equal employment opportunity employer.
