Band Teacher

American Leadership Academy - Johnston is now accepting applications for a Band Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. Candidates must be willing to undergo a background check. The Band Teacher will act as Director for our Band department and is responsible for developing curriculum and course materials for Junior High and High School band related programs. Classes feature students at all levels, from beginning to more advanced. The Band Teacher also provides students with opportunities to participate in additional extracurricular band activities and ensures compliance with district requirements, as well as plan activities to achieve district, region, and state recognition. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Plans, rehearses and directs band classes, grades 7-12. (Jazz, Concert, Marching) with a minimum of four evening performances per school year. Cooperates with the district and school administration in providing music programs for sporting events, school productions, graduation ceremonies and as appropriate, civic functions that enhance the students' performing experience. Participates in the design and instruction of Marching Band, including attendance of festivals, camps and clinics outside school hours. Seeks performance opportunities and implements participation of the band in out-of-school band experiences appropriate to the curriculum and student interests. Helps to manage the inventory, storage and use of school owned equipment and materials. Is able to make minor adjustments and repairs to instruments. Prepares effective lessons/rehearsals that reflect accommodations for individual student differentiation. Plans and uses appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned. Creates an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree Pass applicable background check
