To Be Determined Job Description Job Overview St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Dover, NH is seeking a qualified
MUSIC TEACHER
for grades 9-12 for the 2026-2027 school year.
The ideal candidate will:
  • possess a strong subject background, teaching experience, and a solid understanding of high school music curriculum.
  • bring enthusiasm, energy, and passion to the classroom setting.
  • understand both choral and instrumental teaching methods.
  • connect positively with both students and families.
  • coordinate and lead performances and other school-wide events.
  • cultivate a passion for sharing the love of music, integrating music in other curricular areas, and utilizing new technologies into teaching practice.
  • support the Catholic mission of the school and engage fully in the life of the school community.
  • demonstrate excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • explore collaborative and interdisciplinary teaching relationships with colleagues. Education and Experience
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Music or Music Education or related field is required, with a Master's degree preferred.
  • One to three years of high school teaching experience, or applicable practicum/related program, is preferred.
  • Possession of New Hampshire state certification in appropriate subject area and/or the ability to work toward state certification.
Job Summary and Expectations Under the supervision of the Principal and Department Chair, the
Classroom Teacher:
  • assumes responsibility for the leadership and management of the classes they are assigned, including, but not limited to, music appreciation, music theory, fundamentals of piano, and/or guitar.
  • lead and teach repertoire to the concert band, concert choir, jazz band, and chamber choir.
  • strives to achieve the goals of the St. Thomas Aquinas Mission Statement, the Catholic faith and values by leading the school's music ministry program.
  • develops and implements a daily instructional program according to the needs of the students and the established curriculum.
  • recognizes and incorporates the rich diversity of the students in the classroom and their unique God-given talents.
  • maintains accurate records of attendance, scholastic achievement, etc. as required by the school, diocese, and state.
  • establishes positive public relations within and outside the school community.
  • commits to ongoing professional learning and growth.
