Violin/Viola Instructor

Job Description - Violin/Viola Teacher (In-Person) Are you passionate about helping students grow through music? In this role, you'll guide students through their violin and viola journey — primarily working with intermediate to advanced students (typically with 2-6 years of playing experience). You'll help refine technique, tone production, intonation, and musical expression, while introducing more advanced repertoire and stylistic understanding. Along the way, you'll foster discipline, confidence, and a lifelong appreciation for music in every student. Key Responsibilities Provide tailored violin and viola instruction: Work primarily with intermediate and advancing students to develop technique, tone, intonation, music reading, and musicality Refine foundational skills: Strengthen posture, bow control, shifting, vibrato, and overall sound quality Select appropriate materials: Use level-appropriate method books, etudes, and repertoire to challenge and inspire students Encourage effective practice habits: Provide clear strategies to help students progress between lessons Prepare students for performances: Support recital preparation and guide students in school orchestra, auditions, and other musical opportunities, including All South Jersey Orchestra auditions (experience preferred).

Communicate with families:

Keep parents informed of progress and lesson goals Uphold studio standards: Maintain punctuality, organization, and professional communication Qualifications Experience teaching violin and/or viola (at least one year preferred) Strong understanding of technique, intonation, and standard repertoire Ability to teach both violin and viola Degree in music or music education (preferred but not required) Availability for in-person lessons at least one full day per week (multiple days preferred) Position Details Private, one-on-one lessons conducted in person Current schedule includes approximately 16 students across: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday (Schedule may be consolidated based on student availability) Independent contractor position with flexibility to build your schedule

Pay Rate:
