Instrumental Music Teacher (Orchestra)

This full-time position includes directing middle school orchestras and providing weekly small-group string instruction. The position may also include teaching middle school general music classes. The successful candidate will possess a strong background in string pedagogy and performance, excellent communication and organizational skills, and a commitment to student growth and musical excellence.

Responsibilities include:

Directing middle school string orchestras in rehearsals and performances Providing high-quality small-group string instruction to support individual student development Preparing students for NYSSMA solo festivals, All-County ensembles, and other performance opportunities Developing and implementing engaging lesson plans aligned with district curriculum and music department goals Creating a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom and rehearsal environment Maintaining and managing instruments, music library resources, and related equipment Collaborating with colleagues to support a comprehensive and cohesive music program Communicating effectively with students, families, and staff regarding student progress and program activities Participating in concerts, school events, and other activities that support the music program The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic educator who inspires a lifelong appreciation for music while fostering student achievement, creativity, and confidence.

Job Qualifications Required:

New York State Certification in Music (All Grades), or eligibility to obtain certification prior to the start of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated experience in string instruction and orchestra directing Knowledge of NYSSMA solo and ensemble preparation Experience teaching middle school students and managing performance ensembles
