You must play BOTH guitar and piano at Suzuki Book 4 level or higher You must be available Sundays 8am-4pm and at least 2 weekdays 3pm-7pm You must be local to NYC You must have formal Suzuki Method training is NOT required, but experience/certification is preferred A cover letter is required — this is not optional You must be willing to commit to June and July contract - Fall Semester contract will be offered based on student enrollment and performance

Pay:

$50.00-$100.00 per hour Established in 2011, Tone Academy is a family-run, Asian-owned, and women-led business with over 300 students. We seek out musicians to join our team who are just as passionate about teaching as they are their own performing careers. We believe that it's our job to provide everything our teachers need to be successful — be that materials, music, training, and support — and in turn expect that our teachers achieve the highest standard of excellence in their teaching, professionalism, and compassion. Applicants must have availability on Sundays (morning and afternoon) and at least 2 weekdays (3pm-7pm). Instructors teach lessons virtually, in-person at our studio, or in clients' homes in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Although our community is large and well-established, we pride ourselves on moving quickly to meet the needs of our staff and students. By eliminating excess meetings and paperwork, individuals who fit well at Tone are motivated, organized, comfortable with technology, and most importantly: flexible. Tone Academy will NOT be a fulfilling partner to musicians looking for a short-term gig or who are planning on being away from NYC within the next few years. The compensation we offer has been established well above the average wage for music instruction in NYC because we believe in valuing the hard work, education, and dedication of our incredible instructors. Applicants must have previous teaching experience and formal training in music education. Suzuki Method training is not mandatory, but experience/certification in the Suzuki Method is preferred. Applicants must provide a CV highlighting their education and teaching experience. Do not submit a list of performances and competitions. Applications will not be considered without a brief written statement of Suzuki Method knowledge. Tone is a Suzuki Method based school. Please include a cover letter with "Tone Academy Instructor 2026" in the header. In your cover letter, describe how your teaching style fits the Tone Academy of Music philosophy, what ages you feel most comfortable teaching, and how you apply the Suzuki Method in your teaching. This will be used to evaluate your written communication skills, which is an essential quality needed for success as a Tone Academy instructor.
