The Teacher must also possess the ability to form strong relationships with students, their families and other staff members.

Job Duties:

1. Plan and deliver effective lessons within the context of an urban, high-need population 2. Weave the performing arts into the grade-level classroom expeditions 3. Take the lead in building a school-wide culture that embraces and celebrates the arts 4. Organize and lead weekly thirty-minute school-wide celebrations of who we are and what we are learning 5. Build a community of learning school-wide 6. Foster character, social-emotional competency and physical development 7. Engage families and the community in the life of the school 8. Promote adventure while supporting the school's mission and vision 9. Perform other instructional duties, as deemed appropriate by the

Director Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

1. Passionate about students and the role of music in students' lives 2. Strong vocal and instrumental skill 3. Ability to work with diverse children, including those with special needs 4. Ability to work effectively as a team member 5. Willingness to be held accountable for student progress

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Current valid New York State Teaching Certificate in Music Education preferred, but not required 2. Master's degree in an education-related field 3. Prior experience with high-need students in an urban setting preferred
