Job Description

SUMMARY:
Notre Dame Junior-Senior High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Music Teacher to join our faculty. The ideal candidate will be a versatile musician and educator capable of teaching a variety of music courses, including instrumental music (band/orchestra), choral music, and general music classes. This individual will inspire students to develop their musical talents, appreciate diverse musical styles, and contribute to the rich cultural life of our school community, all within the context of our Catholic faith.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and effective music lessons in instrumental music (band/orchestra), choral music, and general music theory/appreciation.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive music curriculum that aligns with diocesan and state standards, while integrating Catholic values and traditions.
  • Instruct students in music theory, sight-reading, ear training, and performance techniques.
  • Conduct rehearsals and performances for various school events, including liturgical celebrations, concerts, and community outreach programs.
  • Provide individual and small group instruction to students as needed.
  • Manage and maintain musical instruments and equipment.
  • Organize and direct school concerts, performances, and participation in music festivals and competitions.
  • Collaborate with other faculty and staff to integrate music into school-wide events and liturgical celebrations.
  • Foster a positive and supportive environment for student musicians.
  • Cultivate students' musical abilities, creativity, and appreciation for the arts.
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Foster a respectful and inclusive environment that reflects the Catholic faith.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, faculty, and administration.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field (Master's preferred). Valid teaching certification in music (or ability to obtain). Demonstrated proficiency in instrumental and choral conducting. Experience teaching music at the high school level. Ability to play multiple instruments is highly desirable. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education. Ability to accompany choirs or soloists on piano is a plus.

$35,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year
